A breeze picked up and the wisps of grass that surrounded the crumbling cathedral bowed down to its undeniable power. The old, tattered tapestries struggled to remain on their ancient walls against this seemingly gentle foe. Powerless. The cold word flowed through her mind like song. It was something she would never be again. In the shadows of the cathedral, her body glowed a pale white. As she walked, her footsteps echoed in the hallways. However, the disturbance to the silence stopped as she halted in front of a stone figure. She gazed upon, her head tilted with curiosity. A human with wings. The thought amused her and a small smirk grew upon her face before quickly disappearing.
She slowly stepped closer to the figure and brushed her nose up against it. The rough, weather-worn surface was cold, like her. It was though this person was entombed in the stone trapped on the ground for the rest of eternity and not even its wings could lift it from this desolate and decaying place. It had fallen, just as she had. The blows feel as though they occurred yesterday. The sound of her own bones crunching beneath his enormous and unrelenting rage, still rang loudly in her ears. Powerless. She was unable to lift herself out of the grave she had ultimately dug by choosing Vulcan. He had been a stupid mistake made by an equine much too young to be "following her heart". Ultimately, that young heart paid its price for it now lay still in her chest, like a stone. Like the statue in front of her.
Lapsus turned away from her cold-skinned counterpart and continued to wander through the ancient dwelling. The broken pieces of stain glass littered the ground, like rainbows that had been ripped from the sky and stomped into thousands of tiny pieces. The idea excited her mildly. Destruction. It is now what brought her the most joy. She should not be the only one who had to suffer others needed to learn what it meant to be utterly destroyed in every way.
Yet as she continued through the decaying building she discovered a window that was fairly intact. On it depicted another winged human hovering over to young children that seemed to be playing in the grass. As she gazed at it her glowing reflection caught her eye momentarily. Ever since she had stepped into that water to wash away the mud and blood her body had shimmered with a white light. At first it frightened her and then it annoyed her because it made her very visible wherever she wandered. However, after becoming adjusted to it, she simply accepted it for what it was; an oddity. Her head jerked away from glancing a her legs and back to the image before her. Was the bird-human controlling the children since it hovered above and seemed far more powerful? No, for some reason Lapsus got the feeling that this special human was protecting its young.
Her voice hissed out of her and echoed through hall. She turned away from the window and walked out of the rumbling structure. She gazed out over the land that surround the centerpiece of the cathedral. She saw that a little farther away strangely shaped stones sticking out of the ground. She did not have the motivation to walk over and investigate now, but she made a note to herself that it was something worth her time in the future. She lifted her head and glanced at the sky. It was dark and grey. Perfect. She thought with a quick smirk. She stretched her neck and revealed in how alone she was at the moment. It was one of the few things that made her happy anymore. Others were just trouble. If they were not like her then they wanted to know how she became the way she was, and then there were the ones who called themselves "pure." She sneered at the word. They were ridiculous, extremists who were determined to rid the world of all those like her. Anger ebbed in her body like a fire, but quickly cooled as she remembered that none of them were here. The silence and the breeze stroked her bodice like an old friend and she realized that she liked this place.
